About Us

Lead by Example, Serve with Honor

The Young Marines have been strengthening the lives of America's youth since 1959 with our first unit being in Waterbury, Connecticut. Since then we have progressed to become a National Leadership and Drug Demand Reduction program with Units in every state including some units in countries outside the United States. Our goal is to educate the youth about the dangers of drugs and to promote a healthy lifestyle of which can include physical fitness and higher education.

Our Story

The San Bernardino Valley Young Marines has been serving the Counties of San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles for over 20 years. We have maintained a strong presence in the City of Rialto where our Unit is based from.

We provide youth with an opportunity to tune their leadership skills while learning about outdoor survival, drug demand reduction, and military drill and customs. This is the premier program for youths ages 8-17 and is highly recommended by governing officials.

Unit Commander

Alexander Perucho, USAR

I am an alumni of the program, I was a Young Marine from 2011-2015 and reached the rank of Young Marine Corporal. After exiting the program I became a Adult Volunteer and have been with the Unit ever since. I have my Bachelors of Arts in History from California State University San Bernardino and my Masters in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Legal Studies from Grand Canyon University. Upon completing my Masters I joined the United States Army Reserve as a Paralegal Specialist and have been serving for a period of one year. I find joy in strengthening the lives of Ameirca's youth and providing opportunity to those youths who may not have a clear path to walk.
